This M2 is a generalist program in physics-oriented design, research, operations, projects and application management of three types of equipment used in physics research, either at the national or international level: particle accelerators or storage rings dedicated to the production of radiation, high power or energy lasers, tokamaks. In this program, students attend classes for six months and do an internship for the other six months. The curriculum proposes, from the first semester, practical training using Saclay's infrastructure: the “Synchrotron Soleil”, the “Centre de protonthérapie”, the power-lasers are developed in the multidisciplinary “Centre interdisplinaire de la lumière extreme” (CILEX), the Orsay and CEA-Saclay accelerators. Students are grouped together with M2 students who have a similar profile for one month in a European environment with very large instruments: CERN accelerators via the Joint international accelerator school, the LMJ laser of the CEA and the tokamak WEST of the European fusion program, in the national framework of the federation "Formation aux sciences des plasmas et de la fusion" (Training in plasma and fusion sciences).
